Locally Produced Zombie Short Films

Organize before they rise! The 5th annual Zombiepalooza, the Town of Cary’s zombie-themed screening party featuring locally produced short films screened virtually with 10 films, 7 of which qualified to compete for prizes. The screening was offered from October 23 through November 13. The film prop requirement was the coveted 2020 toilet paper roll.
Local Filmmakers
Each year, local filmmakers and hobbyists are invited to get creative and tell their own Zombie stories in one to five minutes. Filmmakers range in age from teens to older adults, using all types of cameras, including smartphones. The common theme… ZOMBIES. Imaginations run wild! As always, there’s one required element every filmmaker must use. The hair dryer was last year’s required attraction, so keep your eyes peeled for at least one visible in every film.
Halloween Costume Contest
2019 Film Competition Winners
First Place – FATAL TIME by Korey Merritt
Second Place – THE MEAT UP by Patrick Goodwin
People’s Choice – FOGGY VALE by Max Williams

Last year, zombies once again rose downtown at The Cary Theater at the 4th annual Zombiepalooza, featuring local filmmakers’ zombie short films.
This family-friendly FREE night of zombie cinema and cosplay is a Town favorite. Families dressed as their favorite horror characters, and channeled their inner zombie rebel to be a part of our costume contest! Our neighboring bars and restaurants had tremendous traffic open and Twinkies were provided for everyone to celebrate our muse of a Zombie film – Zombieland. Our screening of the 2019 Zombiepalooza films were followed by The Dead Don’t Die.
