One Spoon of Chocolate (directed by The RZA)

Rated R | 112 minutes | 2025 | Action, Drama, Thriller

RZA’s One Spoon of Chocolate follows Unique (Shameik Moore, “Wu-Tang: An American Saga and voice of Miles Morales in the Spider-Verse films), a veteran and ex-convict seeking a fresh start in the small town of Karensville. After an altercation with a gang of hostile locals, he starts to suspect they have something to do with the disappearance of young Black men in the area — including his cousin. As he digs for the truth, he finds himself the target of not just the gang but the local sheriff’s office, whose involvement in the disappearances may be even more sinister. Instead of waiting for his turn to be picked off, Unique and those closest to him (Paris Jackson, RJ Cyler) decide to fight back in this sharply satirical and stylish action thriller from the visionary leader of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Post-film discussion with actor, James Lee Thomas (one of the stars of ONE SPOON OF CHOCOLATE).

Tai Chi and Qigong Workshop: From Shaolin to Wudang Mountain

The origins of Tai Chi (Taijiquan) are said to be invented by legendary figure Zhang Sanfeng on Wudang Mountain. Chen Wangting solidified the original 108 movement form in Chen Village in the 1600s. Get an introduction to Chen family style Tai Chi (Taijiquan) and the Five Animal Frolics Qigong, and the Shiba Luohan Gong as we playfully practice these powerful movements. The workshop title comes from the fact that the Shiba Lohan or Eighteen Immortals Gong is a 1500-year-old Shaolin system of movements designed to cultivate internal energy, stretch the body, and improve health. This is an easy to join workshop where we focus on holistic well being, balance, and time tested exercises for better energy that are simple to learn but offer an array of benefits to mind and body…with an overview of Chen Family Style Tai Chi. Class will begin with simple warmups and delve into our subject matter as we move. This session will be led by Dan Partridge.

Dan Partridge is a teacher at the Magic Tortoise Taijiquan School. He began his ongoing study of qigong and taijiquan at Magic Tortoise with Dr. Jay Dunbar in 2004. He has also studied for several years with Kathleen Cusick (Magic Tortoise), and previously with Almanzo “LaoMa” Lamoureux (Black Bamboo Pavilion). Additionally, he has taken workshops, including study with Dr. John, Parter, Wang Ming Bo and Rose Oliver, Dan Pasek, Lisa B. O’Shea, and Wang Haijun. Dan practices the Chen and Wu/Hao styles of taijiquan, push hands, and the traditional 88-movement two-person Yang “san shou” set. Additional study with Magic Tortoise includes the straight sword, staff, and Three Powers Taiji Heavy Ball with Dr. Jay Dunbar. His qigong studies include the Five Animal Frolics, 18 Luohan Qigong, and Rising Lotus medical qigong. He currently teaches in Durham at the Treyburn Fitness Center.
