Autumn Nicholas (she/he/they/them) is a gifted songwriter and performer who has amazed audiences around the country.  Autumn is one of Music Forward Foundations Emerging LGBTQ+ Artists for 2023 and one of Nashville Scene’s Country Music Almanac 2024 Artists to Watch.

They are passionate about their music but also about making a difference in society. With music focused on how we are all uniquely beautiful, beyond our gender, circumstance, and skin, they look to show how we are all no more than the other. A Brilliant and Uncertain Performance

Dasan Ahanu & The Holloway Group Band

Dasan Ahanu Cary TheaterThis unique live band and spoken word experience is based on Dasan Ahanu’s poetry chapbook, “a brilliant uncertain rebellion.”
 
Each poem will blend clever interpretations of Andre 3000’s musical catalog, including Outkast songs and guest appearances, to create a performance experience unlike any other.
 
Dasan is an award-winning poet, spoken word artist, and emcee. Over the past year, he has engaged the community, and elevated the conscious of students and emerging artists from all over N.C. as the 2023 Piedmont Laureate.

N.C. Songwriters in the Round

North Carolina’s top songwriters return for a performance in the round. This year’s showcase features two sets of artists sharing the stories behind the songs while performing Nashville-style in the round.

Featured artists include: Jason Adamo, Stephen Jenkins, George Hage, Reeve Coobs, Julie McKnight, Jeremy Gilchrist, Brooke Hatala, and Amy Gerhartz.

Jane Monheit & The Christian Tamburr Trio

Jane Monheit is a jazz and adult contemporary vocalist with a deep passion for the Great American Songbook. Come enjoy her perform the music of Rogers & Hammerstein.

With many highly acclaimed solo albums and more than two decades of international touring experience, Jane has had the privilege of making music with some of the greatest musicians in jazz.

By age 22, Jane was working with legends such as Tommy Flanagan, Ron Carter, and Kenny Barron, recording her first albums, and touring the planet. This led to collaborations with jazz luminaries such as Terence Blanchard, Ivan Lins, Tom Harrell, John Pizzarelli, Christian McBride, Vince Mendoza, Jorge Calandrelli, and many more.

Jane has appeared on David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, CBS Sunday Morning, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, The View, and many popular international talk shows. She will perform with The Christian Tamburr Trio. The Legacy of Jazz Series is produced and curated by Christian Tamburr and presented with official piano sponsor Ruggero Piano.

Rissi has shared the stage with Taylor Swift, The Eagles, Chris Young, Charley Crockett, and many more. She also hosts her own radio show “Color Me Country with Rissi Palmer,” and is a special correspondent for CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown.

Comedy Night: Paul Farahvar & Paul Ollinger

Paul F. delights audiences with his quick-witted dry humor, centered as an aging bachelor and former litigator. He’s been a staple at Chicago’s Laugh Factory, an actor on “Chicago Med,” and has Dry Bar specials coming this year.

Paul O. also bailed on the corporate world after 15 years in tech. He’s opened for Daniel Tosh, Dave Attell, Chelsea Handler, plus rock bands Styx and Collective Soul. He’s also the host of the Crazy Money podcast, exploring the connection between money, work, and happiness. Guests have included Judd Apatow, LL COOL J, Moby, and winners of the Nobel Prize, Heisman Trophy, and Olympic gold medalists.

The collaboration between Corea and Burton spanned more than 40 years, raising the bar for the art of the jazz duo. To celebrate Chick’s birthday and the music crafted between these two icons, Grammy-winning pianist Taylor Eigsti and award-winning vibraphonist Christian Tamburr unite to pay homage to one of jazz’s most respected and longest lasting duos.

Featuring Dasan Ahanu, Tai Allen & The Holloway Group Band

Downtown Cary will come alive with the performance of Sample Sale Music, a jazz outfit that loves hip-hop. Come enjoy a band that loves the structure of boom bap and the fluidity of improvisation; who love the rigors of jazz but the cadence of a cypher.
Lead by featured performers Dasan Ahanu, Tai Allen, Joel Holloway, and Issac Childs, this group of professional musicologists has played Art of Cool in Durham, SoHo House in NYC, Atlanta’s Apache, the Indie Soul Festival of Western Massachusetts, and BlueNote in the National Jazz Museum. The audience journeys through jazz, blues, and soul. It all shows up within a collaboration of rap and poetry.
