Produced by The Cary Theater, the fifth annual BEYOND: The Cary Film Festival took place Sept. 15-18, 2022. The festival celebrates the art of short films created by independent filmmakers from around the world who compete for more than $6,000 in prizes. All festival events took place at the historic Cary Theater downtown.
“We showcased an outstanding lineup of short films in our fifth year of Cary’s hometown film festival,” said Lani Simeona, festival director and operations and program supervisor at The Cary Theater. “Congratulations to all the winners as well as each talented filmmaker and screenwriter who was part of this year’s festival.”
The 2022 festival is presented by: InkTip, Final Draft, Slated, Town of Cary, Cary Magazine, The Mayton Inn, Misner Public Relations, Digital P Media, Southern Documentary Fund and N.C. Humanities.

BEYOND: The Cary Film Festival is designed to support emerging filmmakers and screenplay writers. Engaged audiences, new and established filmmakers, and industry professionals come together to celebrate the art of short filmmaking. Six award categories include: Best Narrative Short; Best Documentary Short; Best Student Short; Best Under 10 Short; People’s Choice; and the Grand Jury Winner.
