Paul Sheldon used to write for a living. Now, he’s writing to stay alive. After his car crashes in the mountains during a blinding snowstorm, famous novelist Paul Sheldon is “rescued” from a car crash by Annie Wilkes, a fan obsessed with the main character in his series of novels. But when Wilkes reads his latest book–and learns he has killed her favorite character–she teaches Sheldon the real meaning of Misery. Injured and isolated far from help, Sheldon (James Caan) engages in a desperate battle of wits with Wilkes (Kathy Bates in an Academy Award-winning role) as she becomes ever more deranged and violent, burning the sole copy of his latest novel and forcing him to bring her idol back to life. Based on the novel by Stephen King. Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress (Kathy Bates).

Runtime contains 12 minutes of bonus content: A Q&A with Academy Award winner Kathy Bates and Director Rob Reiner from the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival.
