The zombies will once again rise at The Cary Theater! We’re excited to bring you the 2nd annual Zombiepalooza. On Friday night, we’re featuring 15 local filmmakers’ zombie short films on a huge outdoor screen downtown.
Bring the kids for a family-friendly night of zombie short films. We’ll also have cosplay zombies, so dress as your favorite horror film character, or channel your inner zombie rebel! Our neighboring bars and restaurants will be open, and Raleigh-Cary Realty will provide Twinkies for everyone to help create a downtown Zombieland.

A Tribute to George Romero: “Dawn of the Dead” (1978)
Following our zombie shorts screenings, we’ll feature George Romero’s second great zombie film in the Living Dead series. The horror classic “Dawn of the Dead” follows an ever-growing epidemic of zombies, two Philadelphia S.W.A.T. team members, a traffic reporter, and his television executive girlfriend who seek refuge in a secluded shopping mall. This film is also shown outdoors and is FREE!
SICK CHICK FLICKS FILM FESTIVAL: Sat. & Sun., Oct. 28-29

ABOUT ZOMBIEPALOOZA
Local filmmaker hobbyists have been invited to get creative and tell their own Zombie stories in one to five minutes. Filmmakers range in age from teens to older adults, using all types of video cameras, including smartphones. At least 14 films will be screened, with the theme being all about ZOMBIES… how they got here, how to survive a zombie attack, friendly zombies, comedic zombies… imaginations are running wild!
We do have one required element that every filmmaker must use: a toilet brush. So, keep an eye out for a toilet brush visible in every film. Otherwise, film creativity is up the imaginations of our entrants.
