Zombiepalooza 2018

Zombies will once again rise downtown at The Cary Theater. We’re excited to bring you the 3rd annual Zombiepalooza featuring local filmmakers’ zombie short films. This event is FREE! Based on the forecast for rain on Friday, this event will take place INDOORS in the theater.

Bring the kids for a family-friendly FREE night of zombie cinema and cosplay. Don’t let the weather spoil your fun. Dress as your favorite horror character, or channel your inner zombie rebel and be a part of our costume contest!  Our neighboring bars and restaurants will be open, and there will be Twinkies for everyone to help create a Zombieland indoors.

LOCAL FILMMAKERS

Local filmmakers and hobbyists have been invited to get creative and tell their own Zombie stories in one to five minutes. Filmmakers range in age from teens to older adults, using all types of cameras, including smartphones. The common theme… ZOMBIES. Imaginations run wild! As always, there’s one required element every filmmaker must use. This year it’s the traffic cone. So keep your eyes peeled for at least one visible in every film.

DOC OF THE DEAD

Afterwards, we screen the definitive zombie culture documentary, “Doc of the Dead,” brought to the screen by our friend and filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe, which examines the zombie phenomenon in today’s popular culture.
