Joy Goodwin’s screenplays have been honored by Film Independent, the Austin Film Festival, and The Writers Lab. She has written screenplays for the directors Carl Franklin, Debra Granik, and Nicholas Ma. Her script Mabel was produced by Helen Estabrook (WHIPLASH) and Luca Borghese (MONSTERS AND MEN) and is currently in post-production. She began her career directing live television and documentaries for ABC, ESPN, Lifetime, the History Channel, and A&E. Joy has taught screenwriting at UNCSA, NYU, Duke, and Hunter College. She is Director of the Writing for the Screen and Stage Program at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Ron Stacker Thompson wrote and produced diverse films throughout his careers, a few such as A Rage in Harlem, Deep Cover, Sister Act 2, Hoodlum, and the highly acclaimed HBO Special “America’s Dream” which was nominated for nine Cable Ace Awards. Thompson won 2 Best Writing and Best Producing of a Dramatic Series or Special awards, as well as the prestigious N.A.A.C.P Image Award for Best Television Movie or Mini-Series. Thompson is also the Professor Emeritus at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he was chair of the Screenwriting Department in the School of Filmmaking.
