The 11th annual Zombiepalooza, presented by The Cary Theater, shuffled into Downtown Cary Park on Friday, October 23. The event unleashed a massive wave of undead fun. The spine-chillingly fun night kicked off with the area’s first brain-eating contest, a kids’ costume showcase, and a high-stakes round of zombie musical chairs.
Out of 23 submissions from Triangle-area filmmakers, 11 short films made the official cut. This year’s creative rule required every main character to play a sport, so local filmmakers went all out to serve up undead baseball, basketball, croquet, frisbee golf, soccer, track, and more.
Taking home the grand prize was Brian, a laugh-out-loud zombie cheerleader short crafted entirely out of shadow puppets by Durham’s Matt Sandbank. You can watch the film on his Instagram page.
