Art Making: Art Class Inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat

Location: Suite 230, 2nd Floor, The Cary Theater

In partnership with the Visual Arts program at the Cary Theater.

Dive into some of Basquiat’s more well-known paintings, explore his bold use of color and graffiti style marks. Study his repetition of certain symbols and dialogue on culture with regards to chasms existing between the wealthy and impoverished, as well as the racial tensions at the time. Then create your own Basquiat inspired mixed media painting. Materials provided.
