Devine & Dexterous

Celebrating Sarah Vaughan & Dexter Gordon featuring Camille Thurman (sax & vocals) with The Christian Tamburr Trio

“You’re hard-pressed to find rising talents more exciting than Camille Thurman.” ~The New York Times

Celebrating the music of Sarah Vaughan & Dexter Gordon brings together the vocal brilliance of Sarah Vaughan and the soulful tenor sound of Dexter Gordon through the remarkable dual artistry of saxophonist and vocalist Camille Thurman. Described by DownBeat with the fitting comparison, “Imagine if Sarah Vaughan played saxophone like Dexter Gordon,” Thurman is a Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition finalist, two-time ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award recipient, and the first woman in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra’s history to tour and perform full-time with the ensemble. Joined by The Christian Tamburr Quartet, Thurman moves effortlessly between voice and tenor saxophone, celebrating these two jazz icons through swinging classics, intimate ballads, and inspired improvisation. Divine & Dexterous is a dynamic evening that honors the tradition, virtuosity, and unmistakable spirit of jazz while bringing these legendary songbooks vividly into the present.

“You rarely see Joni Mitchell invoked as a reference point…it isn’t because Mitchell isn’t one of the greats. It’s because her music is so uniquely individual that few can follow her. But in Shana Tucker we have a worthy successor.” ~David Menconi, News & Observer

Make Someone Happy

An evening celebrating the Great American Crooners with the voice and piano of Danny Sinhoff joined by The Christian Tamburr Trio

“WHILE clearly influenced by legends Bobby Darin, et al, Danny is very much his own man; bringing his OWN voice to the Great American Songbook…a “keeper of the flame!” ~Jerry Weldon

Make Someone Happy celebrates the timeless art of the jazz crooner through the voice and piano of Danny Sinhoff, a dynamic performer deeply rooted in the Great American Songbook. Inspired early on by artists such as Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Harry Connick Jr., Sinhoff has spent more than two decades developing his own swinging and deeply personal approach to this great American tradition. His new album, Make Someone Happy, brings that journey full circle with fresh interpretations of classics including “Taking a Chance on Love,” “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” “I Won’t Dance,” “Mood Indigo,” and the title song, “Make Someone Happy.” Blending selections from the new recording with music made famous by some of jazz and popular music’s most iconic crooners, Make Someone Happy is an evening of swing, romance, storytelling and timeless songs, delivered by a pianist and vocalist carrying the tradition forward with a voice all his own. Danny will be joined by vibraphonist Christian Tamburr and his Trio.

I Wish

The Music of Withers, Wonder & Warwick featuring Wendy Moten with The Christian Tamburr Band

“I just don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone with a gift like you have.” ~John Legend

Three legendary songbooks. One extraordinary voice. I Wish “The Music of Withers, Wonder & Warwick” celebrates the timeless music of Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, and Dionne Warwick, brought to life by powerhouse vocalist and NBC The Voice runner-up Wendy Moten. A celebrated recording artist whose hit “Come In Out of the Rain” reached the Top 5 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, Moten has spent an extraordinary career performing alongside artists including Vince Gill, Julio Iglesias, Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, and Martina McBride, earning a reputation as one of the industry’s most versatile and commanding vocalists. From the soulful honesty of Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Lovely Day,” and “Lean on Me,” to the irresistible grooves and musical genius of Wonder’s “I Wish,” “Sir Duke,” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” and the sophisticated melodies of Warwick classics like “Walk On By,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” and “Anyone Who Had a Heart,” I Wish is a joyful journey through soul, R&B, pop, and jazz, celebrating three iconic artists whose songs have become part of the American soundtrack.
