FJ Ventre is based in Chapel Hill, NC. FJ plays upright and electric bass and sings with several acts from The Triangle area, including Jon Shain, The Swang Brothers, The Chris Stamey Group, Mary Johnson Rockers and others. Pinto Pinto Facebook Page Born out of the acoustic duo Caroline Mamoulides and Steve Howell which formed in June 2014, this FIVE PIECE OUTFIT FROM RALEIGH, NC. Have years of writing, playing and performing, together and with others. Past & present affiliations include The Backsliders, Tonk, Two Dollar Pistols, Tift Merritt, The Cartridge Family, Hank Sinatra, The Bettys and more. The Grand Shell Game The Grand Shell Game sing songs of love and loss, of failure and resulting growth, of conflict and resolution, and conflicting resolutions. They borrow textures and tones from the past. They blend elements of style towards the future. Their accounting is playful and dynamic, rocking in a waltz and swaying as they roll. There is power in their arrangements, joy in their performance, and meaning behind their words. The sound has been called “prog-Americana”, “cosmic roots-rock”, and sometimes just good old rock and roll. The songs are deceptively simple yet contain an elegant complexity; danceable, even in odd times. Singable, even as the melodies challenge and bend. Thoughtful, even when the whole of a tune fits on a fortune cookie slip. There is a familiarity in the music, but it’s clearly different. Surprising. And then the next song begins. The experience is revisited from a different angle. The theme is one of love, in all its forms. It speaks to a belief in each other. It champions the potential found in all of us. It celebrates life…. the grand shell game celebrates life. Will Call tickets may be picked up at the box office beginning one hour prior to the concert.
