Motion for Pictures Screening Series

Thursday, November 21, 2024
12:50am
The Triangle Filmmaking Community is joining with The Cary to present the Motion for Pictures Screening Series. This series takes a look at film and its impact on our modern culture. “No longer were fantastic adventures and foreign lands relegated to the imagination or static images on the page. By creating motion for pictures, the Lumière brothers, when they invented the early motion-picture camera and projector, fundamentally changed the way people experience and connect with the world.” This series will show the best short films we can find which will hopefully broaden the audiences horizons and (at least for the filmmakers in the audience) inspires them to create something new and different. The summer movie season is just around the corner and we’ve got your answer to the numbing onslaught of blockbuster fluff! Whether you prefer a Lovecraftian steampunk odyssey or an Aaron Sorkin-style battle of words and wits, we’ve got you covered! This month’s lineup of award-winning shorts come from countries across the globe including Iran, Australia, and Canada. Plus, we’re bringing you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see PROXiMITY (written and directed by Ryan Connolly, founder of FILM RIOT) on the big screen! Join us for the best short films in the world on May 3rd at 7pm. If that doesn’t sound intriguing, TRANSFORMERS 5 is just around the corner… The lineup for this month will be: Jar of Bees Whispers Among Wolves Lying Women Proximity He’s Mine Fish The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello Will call tickets may be picked up at The Cary Box Office beginning one hour prior to the movies.
