Local Premiere Series: Little Works of Art, The Searchers

Thursday, April 25, 2024
7:18pm
We love local filmmakers! Our series will premiere local films at The Cary. Premieres are scheduled for November, February, May. Featured selections will be filmed in North Carolina or directed or produced by an NC filmmaker. There’s a wealth of local film talent in our area and we’re happy to bring it to you! Each film will feature a Q & A session with the cast and director / producer afterward. Little Works of Art 2017 Rated: Not Rated Running Time: 12 minutes Documentary Harold “Cat Man” Sims’ recently opened American Museum of the House Cat in Sylva, NC, houses over 10,000 cat-related objects. It honors cats as “little works of art.” But, more importantly, Sims says, it supports his no-kill, open cat shelter that keeps homeless cats from being jailed, like criminals, until they can be adopted. The Searchers 2017 Rated: Not Rated Running Time: 1 hour 34 minutes Documentary Fourteen years in the making, the film uses never before seen interviews, archival footage, and recently declassified documents to chronicle the past and present of these ordinary citizens and their contributions to revealing the truth about the crime of the 20th century: the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Suffering ridicule and being labeled with the intellectual scarlet letter of “conspiracy theorists”, these individuals have challenged the institutions of power for over 50 years. They have fought against great odds to, as they often proclaim, “take back our history”! Will call tickets may be picked up at The Cary Box Office beginning one hour prior to the movie.
