Marquee Messages to Local Graduates

If you’ve been following local news then you know that the Cary Graduates Together showcase is well underway.  Happy faces of 2020 high school graduates are being streamed on two brick walls of the Cary Arts Center from now through mid August.  Each week features photos of graduates from a different local high school.  The Cary Theater’s marquee also honors the featured high school as it changes, each week.

  • The first high school to be honored in the event was Middle Creek from July 8- 12. Here are the remaining showcases that will run through early August.
  • Cary High School: Wednesday, July 15, 2020 – Sunday, July 19, 2020
  • Panther Creek High School: Wednesday, July 22, 2020 – Sunday, July 26, 2020
  • Green Hope High School: Wednesday, July 29, 2020 – Sunday, August 2, 2020
  • Cary Seniors from Other High Schools: Wednesday, August 5, 2020 – Sunday, August 9, 2020
Come on down to the Cary Arts Center between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. with your face covering and remember to social distance! Check out the article in CaryCitizen for more.

While Phase 2 has been extended many of us will find ourselves at some point, on our couches, in front of the TV. The good news is there’s a new option for home viewing entertainment.

ScreenCrush shares news of NBCUniversal’s new streaming service Peacock, which launched last week. In a nutshell it is a large library of films and television shows available for instant viewing at home. A large chunk of its programming is available without a paid subscription. If you want access to all of the site’s programming, watch next-day airings of current shows, or if you want to skip all the ads you will need to pay for one of the “premium” subscription levels. Peacock’s basic tier offers a surprising amount of free content. Even with the caveat that the movies contain commercial breaks, it impressed ScreenCrush on launch day that, Peacock offered somewhere in the neighborhood of 725 movies — and only about 60 of those were behind the “premium” pay wall.
