Safer at Home, Phase Two

As we attempt to move forward with our film festival in the fall, Cannes and European film festivals consider new approaches. Here’s an interesting read to get you thinking about what’s next.

We reached out to patrons and asked them about their experiences with us.  Nancy Davies, one of our biggest supporters and a Cary Film Circle Producer member reached back.  We appreciate her support and look forward to welcoming everyone back when we reopen.  Thanks  for  your kind words, Nancy!

Here’s what she shared…

Dear Cary Theater,

I was delighted when the Town of Cary refurbished the old theater. I am very happy to support it through my Cary Film Circle membership, as well as through my attendance.

I have found The Cary’s staff always to be warm and welcoming and helpful – not just to CFC members, but to all who attend. The CFC does offer some perks, which I, as a senior citizen, find helpful. I’ve availed myself of discounts at several restaurants and a few businesses in town. I also very much appreciate the Producer level perk of being able to call in and reserve my tickets, rather than buying online. (I’m not a big fan of the internet or social media, sorry.)

I like that The Cary is a small and intimate venue. Due to some physical limitations I acquired in January 2018, I find it difficult to navigate some venues that I used to frequent. The staff at The Cary have been wonderful in helping me get to the seating area I prefer, and helping me navigate to the balcony area.

Last summer, one of my two best friends from NY came to visit. I bought tickets for us to see Jon Shain & FJ Ventre w/ Rissi Palmer. Unbeknownst to me, my friend had arranged for our other best friend to come in, too, to surprise me. The staff of The Cary worked with them and got my second friend a seat on the other side of me, so I was flanked by my two best friends for the evening of music. I was so appreciative of that effort, and it appeared to be seamless.

I guess you could say that I like everything about The Cary. I especially like that you seem to have something for everyone. It’s fun around the holidays to see the Halloween and Christmas decorations. I appreciate the documentaries, and the different genres of movies that you show. You offer fare for everyone, not just the “majority.” And I was thrilled when you partnered with the Carrboro Arts Center to bring the 10X10 plays to The Cary. I enjoy going to the plays.

I don’t know what the rest of this year will bring. When The Cary is able to open again, I’m not sure if and when I’ll feel safe enough to venture out, but I will continue to support the Cary with my Film Circle membership.

I implore the Town to do everything in its power to keep this treasure open and viable.

Best Regards,
Nancy Davies
