Interstate 8

Featured in Cannes Marché du Film

Anne Thieme’s short, Interstate 8 was recently featured in Cannes Marché du Film Online screenings, on Wednesday, June 24 and Friday, June 26. German Films and the FFA joined forces for the tenth time to present promising talents to the international industry in the short film initiative of NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER 2020. Simone Baumann, Managing Director of German Films: “The promotion of talent is particularly important to German Films. This year’s selection is inspiring and proves that we don’t have to worry about the next generation of creative talent and thus the future of German cinema, so long as the young filmmakers are given sufficient opportunities. It is, of course, painful that this will be the first time the program is not premiering on the big cinema screen in Cannes. But we are using all available channels to warmly recommend this year’s line-up of NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER to the international film industry.”

Interstate 8 is one of the shorts selected to compete in Beyond: The Cary Film Festival this year. Anne Thieme is a film student from the UNCSA in Winston. Her film, set in the southern United States, depicts two young women who meet by chance in the back of a police car and, without saying a word, experience the injustice hovering above them.
