BEYOND: The Cary Film Festival to Screen 35 Films

The Town of Cary’s film festival received a record number of entries and 35 films have been selected to screen Oct. 7-10, 2021. The fourth annual BEYOND: The Cary Film Festival is produced by The Cary Theater.

CARY, N.C. (October 4, 2021) – BEYOND: The Cary Film Festival is back in the cinema October 7-10, 2021. Produced by the Cary Theater, BEYOND received a record number of film and screenplay submissions from around the world for its fourth year and selected 35 short films for festival competition and one screenplay competition winner. BEYOND is an independent film and screenwriting festival that takes place at the Cary Theater downtown. Film schedule and filmmaking workshop information can be accessed online.

“We’re excited to return to the cinema this year for Cary’s hometown film festival with unique shorts from around the world,” said Robbie Stone, festival producer and Town of Cary Arts Program & Operations Coordinator. “BEYOND is an opportunity for audiences and filmmakers of all experience levels to learn about the screenwriting and production process from a welcoming community of talented artists.”

In addition to the 35 films in competition, the festival schedule also includes workshops:

 

Goodwin is a former theater critic who has produced Golden Globe, Sundance and Spirit Award-winning films. Thompson has produced many feature films such as: Rage in Harlem, Deep Cover, Hoodlum, Sister Act 2, and the award-winning HBO Special America’s Dream, starring Danny Glover and Wesley Snipes.

Short films in competition will screen in four blocks that repeat twice over Oct. 7-10. Voting for films in competition will take place all weekend. The “Best of BEYOND” films will be broadcast on WRAL 5.2 (COZI) on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 8:00 p.m. More details are available at www.beyondthefilmfestival.com.
